IAA/USA is proud to partner with the Global Artist Registry Foundation (GARF), an independent nonprofit dedicated to preserving the records of artists and their work for future generations.

GARF enables artists to create a free, secure, and comprehensive inventory of their work— including images, dimensions, provenance, exhibition history, publications, and other essential documentation. This gives artists control over their own artistic legacy while creating a trusted record that can support authentication, scholarship, estate planning, and future sales.

Unlike conventional commercial inventory platforms, GARF is not designed as a temporary cloud-based subscription service. Commercial platforms can close, change ownership, or discontinue access, potentially putting years of valuable documentation at risk. GARF is governed as a nonprofit cultural foundation and built around long-term archival preservation, with a 100-year preservation plan.

This continuity is especially important after an artist’s death. An artist’s designated heirs or estate can retain access to a clear inventory of the work, its history, and its provenance—helping prevent records from being lost, works from becoming unidentified, and the artist’s legacy from being fragmented.

GARF is free for verified artists to use. We encourage IAA-USA members to begin documenting their work now and create a lasting record for themselves, their families, collectors, and future generations.

IAA-USA is pleased to announce a new collaboration with CertifiedArtist.com that provides our members with a complimentary Certified Artist ICON package.

The Certified Artist ICON offers artists a clear, recognizable way to affirm that their work is human-created and not wholly generated by artificial intelligence. Each icon is issued through a proprietary certification process and contains a unique code and number assigned to the individual artist.

As AI-generated imagery becomes increasingly common, transparency surrounding artistic authorship is more important than ever. The Certified Artist ICON allows collectors, galleries, arts organizations, and the public to immediately recognize that the artwork they are viewing reflects human imagination, intention, skill, and lived experience.
